The average investor
dramatically underperforms the market

Although many investors like to think they are doing well, statistics show otherwise.

The average investor’s rate of return is only 4%1 vs the 10% average of the S&P 500.2

Over a 50-year time horizon, the average investor would be over 16 times better off simply by investing in an S&P 500 ETF.

Introducing Buffett Mode

Buffett mode is designed to be your investing co-pilot.
Warren Buffett is widely considered the greatest investor of all time. Beginning with $1143, he built a fortune of over $100 billion.4
His strategy, known as value investing, is credited by many successful investors as the key to their success. It is about buying company shares at a price below their intrinsic value.

Outperformance is the goal

Warren Buffett has consistently outperformed the S&P 500 and amassed one of the largest fortunes in history.  He has shared his insights and principles on what has driven his success, yet very few follow it. When asked why everyone doesn’t follow his approach, he said because no one wants to get rich slow.

Buffett mode is designed to help you take a thoughtful long term approach to investing, and give you the edge you need to outperform.

MORE PATIENCE

“The world is full of foolish gamblers, and they will not do as well as the patient investor.” – Charlie Munger

One of the primary reasons why the average investor dramatically underperforms the market is because of their strong desire to gamble and speculate.  Less gambling and more focus on patient investing is one of the keys to success.

More discipline

“The most important quality for an investor is temperament, not intellect.” – Warren Buffet

Warren Buffett credits much of his success not to high IQ but to the right temperament. He believes that most investors fail because they lack the patience and discipline needed to be successful.

More WISDOM

“The more you learn, the more you earn.” – Warren Buffett

Becoming a great investor is an ongoing lifelong process. As both Warren and Charlie remind us, the goal is to go to bed a little wiser every day.

More IMPACT

Buffett also reminds us it’s not all about the money, and you can get rich while also making a positive impact.

Mogo is designed to help you go beyond financial returns by being part of a community that is also replanting Canadian forests devastated by wildfires.
